CLASS SIZE: Due to intensive nature of the workshop, class size is limited to 30.
This workshop is designed to prepare individuals who are thinking of or have a need to transition into a new job or career. Participants will learn the career change and job search methods that have been proven to be 87% effective in finding a new job or career. (Most people in a job or career transition apply traditional methods that on average are only 20% effective.)
The workshop provides the plans, measurements, and benchmarks for a job search and/or successful career transition. Integrated into the program are the nuts and bolts of resume/cover letter preparation, finding the right contacts for job openings, interview skill coaching, and salary negotiation strategies. Participants will receive a user friendly and practical focused manual that delivers the tools necessary to help them to assess, implement, and manage their job search or career transition. In addition, each participant will receive electronic files (either on diskette or CD) that contain a networking contact tracking tool and templates for resume preparation, a job capabilities report, and a script to ensure the most effective way to attract career contact points.

OBJECTIVES
Participants will be guided to find the best career or employment situation, in the shortest time, with the least amount of stress. This requires:

- Gaining a detailed insight into work-related talents, skills, and interests
- Applying a project management approach to organizing the successful job search
- Creating marketable cover letters and resumes
- Honing interview and negotiation skills
OUTCOMES
Participants’ success depends on strategies that include planning, organization, and follow through. Together, we will set up clear job or career search objectives, develop knowledge of options, and share the necessary tools to find the right contacts, create an excellent resume and cover letter, and prepare for winning interviews. Successfully completing the workshop will ensure that each participant is ready to face upcoming job and career search opportunities prepared, confident, and with an open mind.
It is important to understand that like anything else of value, participants will get out of this program what they put into it. This is best accomplished by using our proven and effective four-step process for job and career transition success. Each participant will complete the following:
Step 1: Assess marketable strengths and preferred work setting by:
- Identifying career values
- Assessing motivated skills (what you are good at and what you like to do)
- Defining personal work style and preferred work setting
- Pinpointing career interests and potential job opportunities
Step 2: Explore the full range of work-related options
Step 3: Narrow down and focus on the best available option
Step 4: Develop a personal action plan to get to the best available option as soon as possible
Job and career transition can be both a difficult and exciting time for people. However, we have found that those who apply this process are less stressed and tend to find new work and career situations more quickly. As difficult as a job or career transition is, it provides a rare opportunity to:
- Take stock of oneself and his or her job future
- Broaden thinking and vision related to career and job opportunities
- Gain a deeper understanding, new work opportunities, and career satisfaction that goes far beyond leaving one job and finding another
